How will the funds for 3A be used?
1. The provision of eight additional classrooms, small group instructional spaces, a greenhouse laboratory that will compliment our science curriculum, and an administrative office.
This new addition will contain sustainable operating systems and will be built over the parking area on the northwest side of the high school.
2.The provision of much needed renovations and building system upgrades to the historic Telluride Elementary School.
The school was last renovated in 1987, and is in dire need of a new roof, boiler replacement and new mechanical controls for energy efficiency, repair of crumbling masonry, and landscaping.
3. The provision of additional cafeteria and gymnasium space in the Middle/High School to address our growing student population needs.
A second level will be added to the multi-purpose room, the kitchen will be expanded, and the climbing wall will be relocated to the new addition, which will open up the auxiliary gym for PE classes.
4. The provision of new infrastructure for technology.
The phone system will be upgraded along with the addition of 21st Century learning environments with portable laptop labs. Funds will also be used to increase the energy efficiency of existing buildings with a new boiler system.
5. The provision of affordable housing for teachers.
Recruitment and retention of outstanding teachers is critically important to the quality of the educational program. The development of school district property in Illium will provide staff members with new affordable housing options.
